I bought a couple bottles of this Yarra Valley Pinot 2 years ago and had one bottle a month ago. Forgetting that I had it recently, I opened my last bottle prematurely today - it had a good few more years in it. To avoid another such incident I decide to log my wine drinking here.
Appearance: Clear, medium, garnet in colour.
Nose: Clean, medium intensity, immediate cherry nose followed by plum and mild sweet spices. As the wine opens the spices dissappear to a mild oak nose.
Palate: Off-dry to medium, medium acidity, fine medium tannins. Nicely balanced acid and tannins complemented with cherry and slight blueberry flavours. Medium body with a medium cherry finish.

friday night
Friday night in correct sequence:
St. Jerome's - We loved this place! You feel like an alley cat amongst tin cans and milk crates while listening to tunes played by a very chilled out mid-aged bob marley look-a-likewho looks constantly high on something. We also started chattingwith a very erm.. interesting guy who was going on about korean school girls? Haha
Croft Institute - Walking down the alley towards the entrance gives youa feeling like you're gonna get mugged anytime. When you get there you feel like you're in a mental institution behind tall white walls and bars. Interesting toilets!
Ding Dong Bar - Didn't quite make it inside because of the cover charge. Butapparently its a very hardcore rock-n-roll place.
Madame Brussels - Feels like a spring time outdoor garden party complete with grass, picnic mats and garden furniture. The queue to the bar wastoo long though.
Arthur's - We got conned with the $5 entrance fee!
Eurotrash - Had some strange barbie doll style furniture at the corner (if i remember correctly - a little merry by then already)
Fad Gallery - Don't remember much except for the upside down doors and very potent backyard with "herbal smoke"..haha
Lavish Club - It was asian night. What more can I say?! At least I was quite merry by then and the company was good!
Note: Something important to know about aussie cabs. There is a $200 fine if you throw up in the car. We found out the hard way! (And no..it wasn't me!)

pub crawl
I have been to melbourne for 3 weeks and I have yet to start exploring. So what better way to explore the city than a pub crawl! Tonight, I will attempt to visit all the bars I've specifically chosen (based on friend and online reviews), and labelled on my melbourne bar map (it took me 2 hours to do!).
The route: Starting from right at the top near Parliament House, we will make our way down Flinders Lane and stumble back up through the city and end up back home on Franklin Street. Great plan huh!
Watch this space for a post-hangover review.
